Orientation · ~4 min read · Worksheet: Your Starting Reflection
Welcome. You’re here because something’s pulling you toward a different life somewhere else — and you’re not ready to book a coach, hire a lawyer, or pick a country yet. That’s not indecision. That’s the right order of operations.
Most people do this backwards. They fall in love with a photo of a beach, get three sessions deep with an immigration lawyer, and only then ask themselves what they actually want their day-to-day life to look like. The Runway exists to flip that order: get clear on the why before you spend a penny on the how.
What the next 12 months look like
Every month, you’ll get one lesson tied to a specific reason people relocate — lifestyle, money, culture, family, work, safety, or health — plus two practical months covering the logistics everyone eventually deals with. You don’t need to do them in order, but they’re sequenced to build on each other, and Month 12 is designed to tell you honestly whether you’re ready to move from “thinking about it” to “doing it.”
You’ll also get a live group call once a month. These aren’t webinars — they’re small enough that you’ll actually get to ask your specific question, and other members’ questions will usually answer three of yours before you even ask.
Your starting reflection
Before Month 2, spend fifteen minutes on this. Don’t overthink it — first answers are usually the honest ones.
- If money and paperwork were not a factor at all, where would you already be living?
- What does a bad day look like in your current life? Would it still be a bad day somewhere else?
- Name the one thing you’re most afraid someone will say when you tell them you’re thinking about this.
Save your answers somewhere. We’ll come back to them in Month 6 and Month 12, and it’s genuinely useful to see how — or whether — they’ve changed.
One boundary, stated plainly
Nothing in The Runway is tax, investment, or immigration advice. Where a topic touches any of those, the lesson tells you what questions to bring to a qualified professional, not what the answer is. Those answers depend on specifics a monthly lesson structurally cannot know.
Next month: Lifestyle & Climate — the driver behind more relocations than any other, and the one people are most likely to under-plan for.
